Windows Intune provides an Internet-based solution for management of Windows PCs. Intended for organisations up to 500 clients, it combines inventory, malware protection, patch management and remote support tools into a single, web-based console.
For organisations that have not implemented any desktop management solution, such as System Center Configuration Manager, Intune provides a different opportunity to centralise management of desktop and laptops, without the expense and operational overhead of running an on-premise infrastructure.
Windows Intune Key Benefits
- Centralised protection enables the administrator to ensure that all the organisation’s desktops are running the latest antivirus and security patches from a single console. Any security events are immediately reported to the console to allow remedial action to be taken, where required. Furthermore, an integrated support mechanism allows users to request support and for administrators to remote control the desktop anywhere in the world as long as it has an Internet connection.
- Inventory information allows the administrator to track the desktop and laptops assets and to have the knowledge of what hardware is included in each device and what software is installed on it, information which can be useful when defining budgets, upgrade paths, software deployments and performing support.
- Windows 7 Enterprise is included in the subscription, which enables organisations to have access the all the Windows 7 features rather than the lower feature set of Windows 7 Professional or Home. Additionally, provided that the subscription is maintained, this will give access to the next version of Windows is released.
