Environmental Policy
The quality of the environment in which we live is an important concern for Silversands, our staff, customers and suppliers. Silversands is committed to operational excellence and perceives environmental responsibilities to be part of the definition of 'excellence'.
We are adopting sound environmental practices and aim to minimise our impact on the environment wherever this is practical.
In particular:
- We comply with all laws and regulations relating to the environment, in many cases exceeding their minimum requirements
- We are working towards a sustainable future and we encourage and create awareness of environmental issues amongst our staff
- We acknowledge the need to minimise environmental impact when taking business decisions.
Example environmental procedures:
- We use technology to avoid using consumable resources. We operate a fuel efficient fleet and have fleet management and operational policies that encourage the reduction in use of fossil fuels. In addition we encourage the use of tools such as audio and video conferencing and collaborative electronic project management tools to avoid unnecessary travel
- We use 'heat pumps' within our offices to reduce heating and cooling energy requirements.
- Over and above minimum legal requirements we recycle used products where practicable.
- We exchange information with our suppliers and customers electronically or via collaboration systems to avoid creating printed matter wherever practicable.
